A startling intelligence leaked memo has surfaced on the Internet from the Department of Customs and Border Protection. This document was leaked by an unidentified source and details the exact number of individuals from countries other than Mexico or Canada being detained. Of particular concern are those being detained from countries where Ebola is present.
The report is broken down by two separate government agencies, the Office of Field Operations also known as OPO and the Office of Border Patrol, OBP, which gather the intelligence data. According to the report, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents have detained more than 70 people from Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia in between January 2014 to July 2014. Those detained by the OBP are people who have been caught or have turned themselves in to border patrol agents at various border entry points. This time period covers the entire span of the current Ebola crisis. The report is also eye opening in the numbers of people traveling from the Middle East and China trying to illegally enter the United States.
