It has taken six days and five nights of rioting for the Ferguson, Missouri police department to issue an official report in the death of Michel Brown. But what was stated in the report has nothing to do with the shooting death of the unarmed teen.
The report deals solely with Brown as an alleged suspect in an unarmed robbery of a box of “Swisher Sweets” cigars. The estimated value of the cigars was around $50 and when confronted upon exiting the store with the stolen goods, Brown allegedly roughed up the store clerk. To support this version of events, police have also released surveillance video footage and still shots of the crime.
But what happened after that is nowhere in the report that was issued.
Here are seven things wrong with the Ferguson Police Department report:
1) The information is only about the robbery
2) There is no information about any interaction with Officer Darren Wilson and what led to the shooting
3) There was no type of use of deadly force report, which is common among many police departments
4) The report was not written by Wilson
5) There is no timeline narrative of the shooting
6) It took six days for the police to publicly state Brown was a robbery suspect
7) In the report, Dorian Johnson, who was with Brown, was also identified as a robbery suspect but he was never arrested.
