Emory University Hospital in Atlanta announced the release today of two patients who were infected with the Ebola Virus. The patients, Dr. Nancy Writbol and Dr. Kent Brantly, both were treated with an experimental drug and according to hospital officials, pose no public health threat. The two arrived in Atlanta 18 days ago on separate medical evacuation jets. Both doctors worked for Samaritan’s Purse, a nonprofit organization, whose president Franklin Graham issued the following statement:
“Today, I join all of our Samaritan’s Purse team around the world in giving thanks to God as we celebrate Dr. Kent Brantly’s recovery from Ebola and release from the hospital.”
The two former patients will now take time to decompress from their shared experience and spend time with their family members.
