Rosie O’Donnell has already been accused of feuding with potential “The View” host, NeNe Leakes, and though those rumors were quickly put to rest, it appears that O’Donnell’s been accused of acting like a diva toward current “The View” co-host, Whoopi Goldberg.
According to RadarOnline, Goldberg has been sitting comfortably in the moderator seat for years, but O’Donnell, who will make her return to the show as a co-host, wants to take over Goldberg’s role and Goldberg, of course, isn’t happy about it.
“Rosie wants it back from Whoopi,” said an insider. “It doesn’t matter to Rosie that Whoopi has sat there for the last several years. Rosie doesn’t want to be sitting anywhere but back in her old spot. In Rosie’s mind, this is once again her show. Whoopi won’t be giving it up, and Rosie even suggested they trade seats every other week. It’s all a power trip for Rosie, which is resulting in tension on the staff.”
The source claims that Goldberg is fed up with O’Donnell and, although she signed a four-year contract with ABC to return as a host, she’s ready to walk away from the show to avoid any more drama.
“Whoopi regrets roping herself in like that and is trying to figure a way out,” said a source close to Goldberg. “She wants to do other projects and feels network honchos are holding her back.”
This isn’t the first time that Goldberg has reportedly complained about the way things are being run at “The View.” When the show’s founder and executive producer, Barbara Walters, retired in May, Goldberg reportedly complained that “I’ve been working with a cranky 85-year-old woman who’s been mad about everything for two years, and I need a break,” referring to Walters.
But if Goldberg is looking for any sympathy from the show’s producers, the source claims that she should think again.
“Bringing Rosie back was a guarantee that there would be controversy. Rosie has been boasting she will be at ‘The View’ for a very long time, and won’t be playing second fiddle to anyone,” said the source.
Well, we hope that this story is just a rumor, just like the one about O’Donnell wanting to ban Leakes, as well as all other reality TV personalities, from being a host on the show. But if it is true, we don’t doubt that producers are going to instigate as much drama as possible for the sake of ratings. – nicholas robinson
