It seems that some people just cannot learn. Once again, there is a story out of Ocala, Florida, of a parent who left his children unattended. Apparently, Joshua Keith Delong, 28, decided he needed to have a drink. The problem with this decision was that he left his three children ages 5, 7 and 8 in the car. Delong was in the bar from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. drinking heavily.
Customers were surprised when they saw a gold Cadillac with the three children inside honking the horn and yelling, “Daddy.” One of the children told the customer, “Daddy left this year for a long time and he does it a lot.” When Delong found out that customers had gathered around his car, he ran out of the bar. That is when a group of customers came outside and started yelling at Delong for leaving the kids in the car. It was then that an unknown man punched Delong in the face, knocking him unconscious.
Delong was treated at the local hospital and then arrested on three counts of child neglect. He denied that he brought the kids to the bar. He allegedly stated that his wife must have brought them to the bar to “Set me up.” He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
