Cher landed in hot water earlier this week when her former choreographer filed a lawsuit against her, claiming that she was racist when it came to choosing her dancers.
According to TMZ, choreographer Kevin Wlson says he was with Cher when she was auditioning dancers for her “Dressed To Kill” 2014 when he came across “a minority female dancer” that he particularly liked. However, when he spoke to Cher about her, Cher allegedly told him “We have too much color onstage.”
Wilson says that Cher then told him to find a white, blonde dancer, and that he was “not to cast anymore dark skinned black dancers on the tour.”
Wilson claims the reason his business relationship ended with Cher is because back in June after a show in Louisville, Kentucky, a male dancer invited a female fan to his hotel room and allegedly got sexually aggressive with her. Wilson and two others allegedly tried to blow the whistle on the male dancer and were subsequently fired.
Wilson claims that Cher and her team tried to cover up the firings by saying there were budget cuts. However, Wilson argues that the budget cut excuse is a lie because Cher’s tour was grossing a reported $54.9 million and her Bob Mackie costumes cost $100,000 a pop.
Wilson is now suing Cher for racial discrimination and retaliation.
However, Cher is denying Wilson’s claims.
“These are ridiculous allegations. They couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Cher’s lawyer, adding that they are “untrue and categorically denied. To attribute such a statement to Cher is absurd.”
