The mother of deceased teen Michael Brown could be in trouble with the law. According to reports by Smoking Gun, Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, was upset that people were selling T-shirts with Brown’s likeness in Ferguson.

McSpadden and others approached a woman and two men who were selling Mike Brown-themed T-shirts. The woman selling the shirts was McSpadden’s former mother-in-law, Pearlie Gordon. McSpadden allegedly approached Gordon and told her she couldn’t sell the shirts. Gordon responded by telling McSpadden she would continue selling the shirts if McSpadden couldn’t show proof that she owned a patent for Brown’s name and likeness.

McSpadden’s mother, Desurieia Harris, allegedly became belligerent and tore down the t-shirts that were hanging on a line. Gordon said she was struck in the head and thrown to the ground. She also said $1500 worth of shirts were stolen and a man took $400 in cash earned from the sells.

Although it appears to be a family feud that escalated, it could cause those involved to face jail time. Police are currently investigating the incident as an armed robbery.

McSpadden has yet to discuss the incident. She will be traveling to Switzerland in a few days to speak at a conference with Michael Brown Sr.
