Chicago Bears middle linebacker DJ Williams invited some of his teammates along with key tastemakers from all over the city to a private reception at the swanky Parliament nightclub to bring awareness to his foundation, Home Team Closet.
Fellow Bears players Alshon Jeffery, Lance Briggs, Tim Jennings, Ego Ferguson, Kelvin Hayden and Martellus Bennett all came out to support Williams’ event, which also served as an introduction to his new clothing line, Dyme Lyfe. Guests were treated to complimentary appetizers from Chicago eatery Del Frisco’s and drinks from 312 and Grey Goose. Popular DJ Rock City provided the soundtrack for the night as guests mingled, networked, and got a sneak peek at some of the upcoming Dyme Lyfe fashions.
Home Team Closet is a concept in which Williams, and other teammates, donate unused clothing and shoes that they receive for free and set up makeshift stores where underprivileged youth can shop for free if they earn good grades in school. Williams currently has the program set up involving fellow teammates but hopes to expand it to athletes across the city and country.
