Bill Cosby has many accomplishments of which he is very proud of achieving. One of these is his service in the United States Navy. Cosby served four years in the Navy as a hospital corpsman before being honorably discharged in 1960 as a 3rd Class Petty Officer.
The Navy honored Cosby in 2011, by bestowing upon him the rank of honorary Chief Petty Officer. In light of his recent allegations, the Navy has taken the unprecedented move of stripping Cosby of this title. It was announced Thursday. The U.S. Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, issued a statement which says in part:
“The Navy is taking this action because allegations against Mr. Cosby are very serious and are in conflict with the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment.”
This is the latest blow to the legendary comedian’s legacy. Because of rape allegations, Cosby has resigned or been asked to resign from the board of trustees at several universities.
