Marckenson Chery will spend the next 12 years of his life behind bars for having cyber sex with a minor. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Chery, who is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, began having an online and text relationship with a 15-year-old girl from San Francisco.

The two met on an anonymous online chat website. The girl told Chery she was 15, but he lied and told her he was 21. They began texting each other and their conversations eventually turned sexual. The two exchanged nude photos and later had cyber-sex sessions on Skype.

However, the girl’s father became suspicious of his daughter’s behavior and took her phone. When he searched her phone, he noticed more than ages of sexually explicit conversations between Chery and his daughter.

The girl’s father contacted authorities and Homeland Security initiated an investigation. Chery was arrested in April and his attorney claimed that he was suffering from depression after his financial collapse in 2009. He eventually decided to plead guilty to one federal charge of enticement of a minor.

Along with his 12 year prison sentence, Chery will also have 10 years of supervised release, must register as a sexual predator, and he can no longer have contact with minors.
