For a cop in the NYPD, having a partner who has your back is vital. The link between cop partners is often lifelong, emotional and in recent days tragic. With the shooting deaths of NYPD officers Wenjian Lu and Rafael Ramos who were ambushed by Ismail Brinsley the list of NYPD partners killed in the line of duty has grown:
1972- Officers Greg Foster and Rocco Laurie were ambushed and gunned down in the East Village simply for being cops.
1975- Officer Andrew Glover and Sgt. Frederick Reddy were shot by Luis Serrano Velez during a traffic stop.
1978- Officers Norman Cerullo and Christie Masone were killed during a robbery in Brooklyn.
