The killings of unarmed Black men at the hands of police officers have sparked outrage throughout the nation and other countries around the world. Several celebrities have voiced their opinion on the matter via social media and other platforms. Kevin Hart has posted several messages regarding the incidents.
During a recent interview with rolling out, Hart shared his thoughts on how we should move forward when it comes to the fight for justice.
“Both situations [Mike Brown and Eric Garner] are unfortunate,” Hart told rolling out. “Both situations have drawn attention to matters that have needed attention drawn to for quite some time now. It’s sad that these things had to happen for us to really go ‘oh, wow this is wrong.’ But I’m hoping and praying that moving forward, these situations will be situations that can be avoided. At the end of the day, everybody’s life is precious. I don’t like to see the race battle at all. I don’t like to see those things. I love people. I love to love. I love to be happy. I’m hoping that the goal — peace — can eventually come through and exist. I’m hoping that we as a people can just be better. We as a people, because I don’t like to segregate, I don’t like to point any fingers. These are just situations that really make me sad because you see it has taking us steps backward instead of forward. What’s unfortunate is that in 2014, we had to experience young lives being lost over nothing. I’m hoping that in 2015, these situations can be avoided and we can make up for those backward steps that were taken in 2014.”
Hart will appear on this week’s cover of rolling out magazine.
