The Atlanta Hawks continue to make history. Several days after becoming the first team in NBA history to win 19 games consecutively, the Hawks starting five were named NBA Players of the Month. The award is usually given to the top NBA Player of the Month, but the Hawks’ consistent play as a team was a factor in the league honoring the starting five (Jeff Teague, Al Horford, Paul Milsap, DeMarre Carroll, and Kyle Korver).

Two days after losing for the first time in 2015, the Hawks were back in action against the Washington Wizards. A crowd of over 18,000 was on hand to encourage the Hawks to get back to their winning ways. Singer Kandi Burruss, who has become a regular at Hawks’ games, sat courtside with her husband, Todd Tucker.

The fans got a chance to see the Hawks play in the manner that allowed them to win 19 straight games before falling to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday. The Hawks built a double-digit lead early in the game with aggressive defense and passing. The held an 11-point advantage after the first quarter.

But the Wizards made an impressive run in the third quarter with John Wall sparking a comeback. Wall finished with 24 points and 9 assists, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Hawks from regaining the lead.

Led by Jeff Teague’s 26 points and Al Horford’s 21 points and 13 rebounds, the Hawks took control of the game in the fourth quarter. The Hawks won the game by a score of 105-96. On Friday, they will face off against the Western Conference’s best team, the Golden State Warriors.
