James Robertson became a national sensation when it was discovered that he walked 21 miles to work because he couldn’t afford a car. After reading Robertson’s gut-wrenching story, a student at Wayne State set up a crowd funding campaign to help with a purchase of a car.

People from across the nation showed support and donated $360,000 to Robertson, 56. A local car dealership also donated a $35,000 Ford Taurus to him.

However, his ex-girlfriend now wants a cut of his money. According to the Detroit Free-Press, Robertson’s ex-girlfriend, Tanya Fox, 60, is harassing him for money. She claims that he promised to give her $50,000 to fix her home. Fox said that he put grease on her walls and was unclean during the 15 years he stayed with her.

Robertson paid Fox $880 per month for rent for a small space. He has moved and now lives in a bigger apartment and pays $800 per month.

Robertson has since filed a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend.

He continues to work at the same factory and earns $10.55 an hour. Robertson also set up a trust fund with the money that was donated that can’t be touched until he retires.
