It’s certainly been a difficult time for Phaedra Parks as she’s not only dealt with her husband, Apollo Nida, going to prison for nearly a decade, but also had to deal with becoming a single parent in the midst of the drama. But, obviously, she’s not the only one struggling with the transition. Her young sons, Ayden and Dylan, have been affected by the loss of their father and the subsequent tabloid frenzy, and in a new interview, Parks shares her heartbreak over their suffering.

In her latest Bravo blog, Parks opens up about last Sunday’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion, particularly the scene in which she cried as she explained that she wants her sons to be proud of her when they look back on what she’s done during this difficult time.

“My kids are everything to me, and as I have said many times before, everything I do is with them in mind. It has been a difficult time for all of us, and there’s been a lot of pain that people have not seen,” Parks said.

According to Parks, it’s been difficult watching her sons endure everything that’s happened in their household.

“As a parent, seeing your kids go through something like this is heartbreaking and just thinking about it can make me emotional. My kids are so beautiful, inside and out, and they don’t deserve this. It makes me sad,” Parks said.

And Parks has struggled dealing with the criticism that’s come her way regarding her choice to keep her sons away from their father’s prison.

“It is overwhelming to be publicly judged and second-guessed for the choices I make for my children by people who have not displayed any genuine concern for me or the well-being of my children. But we are survivors and I am doing everything possible to ensure my sons’ well-being,” Parks said.

Clearly this is a troubling time for Parks’ entire family, but we hope the kids are resilient enough to make it through this tough time with as few emotional scars as possible.
