Civil rights Icon and former UN Ambassador Andrew Young escaped serious injury during Atlanta rush hour traffic yesterday. According to police, a cement truck fell on the car in which Young was a passenger, crushing the car and another vehicle. Incredibly, the 83-year-old Young escaped injury. The driver of the other vehicle suffered head and hand injuries, and had to be pried out of his car by Atlanta Fire Rescue who were also assisted by good Samaritans.
Young was taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution but was released and is resting at home. The driver of the cement truck was cited by police for disobeying a traffic control device and driving too fast for conditions.
