Carl Nelson’s PowerTalk 2 educates, inspires and creates plans for success

Carl Nelson PowerTalk 214
Peabody Award-winning journalist Carl Nelson

“The Carl Nelson Show” on Radio One’s Newstalk 1450 WOL-AM is known throughout Washington, D.C., as the place where listeners can hear useful information and opinions on a daily basis. So it was no surprise that his second PowerTalk Lecture series at Union Temple Baptist Church would be a hot ticket. Nelson brought together thought leaders in multiple disciplines to empower our community through learning more of our history and sharing plans for future strength and growth as a community.

Some of the exciting speakers included: Baba Dick Gregory, Dr. Claud Anderson, Dr. Umar Johnson, Rev. Dr. Willie Wilson, Dr. Anthony Tony Browder, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, Dr. Jim Clingman, Dr. Booker T Coleman, Sis. Merira Kwesi, Dr. Patricia Newton, Bro. Ray Fauntroy and others. Everyone who attended gained a lot — not only from the speakers, but from the other attendees and vendors throughout. Dr. Jim Clingman (creator of Blackonomics) shared several interesting ways that we can improve our collective wealth. By simply being conscious of who we give our money to and choosing our community members over members of other communities, we can each have a very important impact toward a common goal that can uplift us all. His latest book, Black Dollars Matter discusses not only why they matter, but introduces ways that we can leverage our dollars for an even more powerful impact. One of those ways is also by going to https://www.iamoneofthemillion.com/ and joining the movement to unite one million Black people politically and financially. There is strength in numbers and we as a people will spend $1.1 trillion this year. Where you spend your dollars determines our common future.
