Kelly Price’s personal life has been pretty private ever since she walked away from “R&B Divas L.A.,” but now she’s back in the headlines with the sad news that she and her husband of 23 years have called it quits on their marriage.
The singer confirmed the news with AlwaysAList.com, explaining that she’s not only divorcing Rolle, who has been both her husband and manager, but that she’s also ending her business relationship with him as well.
In a statement on the website, Price says that the split was amicable and that she and Rolle decided to divorce because they’d grown apart.
“After the untimely death of my sister last year, it weighed on me heavily that this was something we needed to do. I ultimately made the decision to live the best life I can. I ended things because I didn’t want to compromise what true happiness was anymore,” Price said, adding, “There are no hard feelings and I will love Jeff until the day I die!”
Price and Rolle share two adult children together, Jeffrey Rolle Jr., 23, and daughter, Jonia Rolle, 21. Rolle Sr. was asked to give a statement but declined the offer.
As for Price, she’ll be speaking, or rather singing, more about the divorce on her next album, Sing, Pray, Love Vol. 2: Pray, which is slated to be released in 2016.
