D’Angelo went from celebrated soul singer in the mid-’90s to being one of the music industry’s greatest sex symbols in the ’00s thanks to his iconic “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” video. But after more than a decade away from the music scene, D’Angelo made his comeback last year and, to the disappointment of many fans, he had shed his sex symbol image and focused solely on his music. However, some fans just can’t seem to let go of the sexual fantasies of D’Angelo and in a recent interview he explained how the unwanted attention from female fans sometimes annoys him.
In a recent interview with PBS’ Tavis Smiley, D’Angelo was asked about the “Untitled” video, in which he seemingly appeared nude, buff, and oiled up, and how it changed his career.
“Well, in particular, let’s talk about ‘Untitled,’ because that was the one that kind of took it there. It was all good. I think a lot has been made about me reacting to, or me being negative to the reaction of that video. And it really wasn’t that. Too big of a deal has been made out of that,” D’Angelo explained.
Although D’Angelo was fine with the reaction to the video, he wasn’t always fine with the way female fans treated him while he was touring during that era.
