To describe Corey Walker as a fitness buff is an understatement. He has amassed a large roster of clients who clamor for his services. Read on to find out how he did it.
How did you get started in the fitness industry?
All of my life, I have been a part of some athletic team. Going into my adult life, I fell in love with sculpting the body and seeing the many changes one could go through during the process. That’s when I was noticed and was led to becoming a personal trainer which has led me to this point in my life now.
What encouraged you to become an entrepreneur?
Freedom encouraged me to become self-made and self-assured. I knew being an entrepreneur was for me when I realized my hardwork would be appreciated and paid correctly as I see fit. Getting back what you put in is what made me become the man I am today and an entrepreneur.
When did you realize that you had the skills to be successful in the fitness industry?
When I didn’t see any trainers who would go to the clients’ mindset and find a way to rebuild their mind and body as one so there would be an overall change. People need to be motivated and inspired in a non traditional [way]. I knew my style of training would thrive in these times.
What makes the perfect client?
The perfect client comes prepared. That means they’re stretched out, warmed up and have taken all steps pre workout time. A perfect client also follows instructions once a trust is formed and developed.
What do you do that is different from other personal trainers to service your clients?
I hold my clients accountable for all decisions made with me and without. I will not take responsibility for their lack of effort and failures and I will not babysit anyone. I also spend an enormous amount of time with clients [working at] having proper form and technique to avoid getting injuries.
How will you attract new clients?
l attract clients from my lifestyle of healthy living. Just check my social networks and you’ll see I spend countless hours in the gym on myself and as well on my clients. I’m into many aspects of entertainment, so everywhere I go and my physique is noticed it’s only a matter of time before someone is interested in training. I’m also working on expanding my brand of New Body Fitness in clothing and fitness products.
Where do you see your business in the next five years?
Honestly, I can’t say, “I want to have my own gym and a successful fitness clothing line.” Having a line of fitness products would also be perfect to round off what we offer but God has directed me in my moves so who knows what his plan is for me.
