Jimmy: Did You Get One? is an amazing independent thriller with a fresh story and a talented cast. The film, created by newcomer Jerry May, premiered at the Landmark Theatres Midtown Art Cinema on Thursday to a great response.

The movie follows Jimmy, a man who had been brainwashed by his ruthless grandmother for much of his life. For two decades, she forced Jimmy to bring little girls to her from the neighborhood so that they could be tortured. But when Jimmy captures a 9-year-old girl full of faith in God named Sara, her father’s determination to find her and bring her back home causes the unraveling of secrets and dysfunction surrounding Jimmy’s mysterious family.

Eric Bart plays the dramatic role of Jimmy, the disturbed kidnapper. Bart has played in a couple other independent films, but this is one of his most challenging roles yet. He describes the part of Jimmy as being “180 degrees from what I really am” and mentioned how much of a delight it was to work with May.

“Working with Jerry one on one was an eye opening experience,” Bart tells rolling out. “I realized how much work was involved.”

Bart says he’s nowhere near finished with his film career. He has aspirations to working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

“I would like to work with Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone and the one and only Sandra Bullock,” Bart says.

According to Mays, Jimmy: Did You Get One? has a sequel in the works. Bart says he hopes that the interest audiences have had in the first installment will carry over into later installments, similar to how the Jason and Halloween horror movie franchises have become cult classics.
