Dr. George Fraser’s name is almost synonymous with master networking within the business community across America and several other regions of the world as well. So it was only fitting that he came to LA to help kick off the first PowerNetworking Los Angeles monthly event. The hosts for the event were Barbara Lindsey, partner in SoldOut Connections and founder of Los Angeles Black Business Expo, Captain Anthony Penn, retired LACOFD and CFO of Backstage Access Magazine and Erica Williams-Rogers, CEO of Elevate Lyfe.
Dr. Fraser gave the crowd plenty to think about and more importantly to learn from. The first 10 people who had registered for the event were given the opportunity to give a 60 second pitch of their business on stage. In a later segment of the program when Dr Fraser returned to the stage, he told the 10 in his gentile kind voice that none of them had really done a good job; but he continued on to say, “let’s take this opportunity to make it a teaching moment” that all in the room could benefit from.He then explained that in the real world you’ll often only have 15-30 seconds to “pitch” your business and that there are 5 things it must contain:
1. Who you are.
2. Where your from
3. What you do
4. How you add value
5. Quantify how you have added value
He gave his personal elevator pitch in under 20 seconds with a total of 71 words. He insisted that each person in attendance desiring business success, hone their pesonal pitch and keep crafting it on an ongoing basis so that it can properly serve them.
There were many, many more “teaching moments” and everyone is excited for next months PowerNetworking event. See who you know in the pictures below.
