Celebrity hairstylist,TV personality and Bravo’s star of “Fashion Queens,” Derek J; and William Nero, founder of the D’Nero Group, joined forces in Chicago to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Nero and Derek J were both in town for other events and decided to have a small intimate gathering of close friends and media to help raise funds for this special cause. The gathering was at Esso’s in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago and drew many of Chicago’s who’s who.

The event was created to support the Susan G Komen Foundation’s fight against breast cancer. The Susan G Komen Foundation’s mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever. They provide education, and offer grants and support for those who suffer from this disease.

The D’Nero Group provided a basketball signed by the Chicago Bulls for a silent auction. A portion of the funds raised by this event will go toward cancer research.

The mood was celebratory and laid-back and Derek J was gracious enough to take pics with many of his adoring fans. Derek J closed out the weekend by attending a fashion show at Venue One. D’Nero Group is an official sponsor of the fall/winter fashion show.

Take a look at a few of the pics from the private gathering.
