Anthony Anderson plays African American father Dre Johnson on the ABC show “Black-ish.” The show is a family-themed situational comedy that brings good old-fashioned family values to the screen. Anderson’s character is a marketing executive whose wife is a doctor. Together they have 4 kids and live in a nice neighborhood. The show’s central theme creates for the viewer a foundation of ethnic identity without the need to necessarily segue into a new cultural identity.  It is a show that encourages families to remain vigilant and mindful about the trappings of ‘better neighborhoods, better schools, better folks.’ The show tackles racial and social issues with great skill and remains the only Black family-oriented program on major networks.
