Erika Escalante thought it would be a good idea to reveal her racist views on Twitter. According to a report by Fox 10 in Phoenix, Escalante took a picture near a field of cotton. She then uploaded the picture to Twitter with the caption, “Our inner (N-word) came out today.”

The post eventually went viral and Escalante was blasted on Twitter by users who found the post offensive. Escalante, a 20-year-old college student, had recently landed a paid internship at Isagenix. But when the company discovered the tweet, she was immediately fired.

“We too find this tweet offensive & we are shocked. This does not reflect our values & culture. The intern is no longer with us.”

Escalante also apologized on Twitter by posting, “I want to say to the Black community, and anyone else out there that I hurt, that I’m so sincerely sorry.”

She has since disabled her social media accounts.
