Breaking up is made easier, courtesy of Facebook. The social network company recently launched a series of tools, allowing users to “take a break” from their old flame’s mushy posts. That’s right. While in the past you could only hide, unfriend or block the person, now you can make a clean break from your ex on social media by un-tagging them altogether. After all, no one wants to celebrate a “memory” featuring you all booed up next to an ex. Can you say awkward?
According to Facebook, a variety i\of tools will allow users to restrict how much you see of your ex and better yet, how much your ex sees you on Facebook. You can also restrict access to posts of the two of you together before the flame went dim.
“We’re starting to test these tools today in the U.S. on mobile, and we’ll make changes and roll them out further based on people’s feedback,” Facebook Product Manager Kelly Winters wrote in a blog post. “This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives … We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control.”
In other words, you won’t feel the need to stalk your ex on social media anymore, and vice versa. As the saying goes, out of sight, out of mind. What do you think of Facebook’s latest tools? Sound off in the comment section below.
