Sabrina Peterson, founder of Glam University, kicked off the GirlPower SleepOver with her Business A-Z and Flip classes, followed by numerous sessions, including a Branding 101 class hosted by media maven Karen Civil, rolling out CEO Munson Steed and Michelle Alexander of General Motors; a breakout class with New York Times best-selling author and movie producer Zane; and Mahisha Dillenger CURLS CEO taught a breakout class on “Taking your product from the kitchen to mainstream stores.” Between the educational aspects, numerous lifestyle activations were held, including the WETBAR lounge area presented by MillerCoors and the Design Essentials Suite with photo booth and fun. |
The highlight of the evening was an intimate Q-and-A with Sophia Amoruso, author of the New York Times best-seller #GirlBoss and Nasty Gal founder. This hourlong segment moderated by Sabrina Peterson detailed Amoruso’s journey from an aspiring entrepreneur to a cultural icon. Amoruso shared her personal marketing tips, various books and videos to read for financial and business insight, the dos and don’ts of venture capitalism and more with the audience. Preceeding her panel, Amoruso was thanked and formally welcomed to the city of Atlanta by Sarah Elizabeth Reed, wife of Mayor Kasim Reed and the city of Atlanta’s first lady. Sarah noted Amoruso and Peterson to be “an inspiration to all, showcasing the true definition of beauty and business.” |

The evening wrapped with a private dinner for the event experts and then pajamas and a movie with the experts and guests. “The GirlPower SleepOver was an amazing and impactful event. Not only did I learn key nuggets of wisdom from the other experts, but I learned from the attendees as well,” said Tahira Wright, expert and co-founder of The Cut Life. “I’m excited to see the growth of Sabrina Peterson’s brainchild.” |
