While some 25-year-olds who started 2016 off strong have already picked up a cheeseburger and fries, 79-year-old Ernestine Shepherd is proof that age is nothing but a number. She is listed as the world’s oldest competing bodybuilder in the Guinness Book of World Records, and wins most of her competitions. Shepherd didn’t start lifting weights until she was in her 50s.
Over the past 17 years, she has adopted a healthy lifestyle that has led to her achieving the ultimate physique. At 5-foot-5, Shepherd is a lean 130 pounds and has only 10 percent body fat. (FYI, few women are able to get their body fat numbers that low.) When asked who her role model is, she lists actor Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Michelle Obama.
