Comedian Katt Williams, whose real name is Micah Sierra Williams, is in the news after being arrested in Gainesville, Georgia yesterday.
According to Gainesville police, they received a call about a person being assaulted at a local pool supply store around 11:30 a.m. Sgt. Kevin Holbrook stated that when police encountered Williams outside he was “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail.” Police stated that Williams was in the store with two women and began arguing with an employee. Williams then allegedly threw a pair of goggles at the employee and went behind the counter and punched the employee at least once. When asked for his version of events, Williams told police that they should ask the store employee what happened.
Williams is now facing a misdemeanor battery charge. There were no details on what caused the argument between Williams and the store clerk.
In 2012, Williams was caught on video delivering a “pimp-slap” to a Target employee. In that incident, Williams stated later that the Target employee used the N-word toward him and that’s why he was slapped. Williams was sentenced to one year of informal probation and was ordered to stay away from the Target store where the incident occurred. Williams’ last major arrest was in 2014 along with rap mogul Suge Knight in Beverly Hills, California. Both Williams and Knight were charged with felony robbery for snatching a woman’s camera and smashing it to pieces. Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges in October 2015 with Knight’s legal team stating that the encounter occurred because the woman was taking pictures of his son without permission.
Compared to his last few mug shots, Williams’ latest booking photo shows a more groomed appearance. The inmate database no longer has information on Williams, so he has more than likely bonded out of jail.
