It’s been over five long years since R&B singer Keri Hilson released her last album. She’s finally ready to not only get back to releasing music, but use her upcoming album to explain to her fans why she took a hiatus.
Hilson’s solo career began in 2009 when she released her first album, In a Perfect World …, which featured artists like Ne-Yo, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne. Her follow-up was No Boys Allowed in 2010. Later this year, she is expected to drop her third studio album, L.I.A.R., which stands for “Love Is A Religion.”
“I promise, I will tell my fans everything on this album. Why I was really gone, what actually happened, what didn’t, what I could control, and what I couldn’t,” said Hilson, 33, according to Rap-Up. “Never will I ever again take a break from music.”
The project’s first single, “Again,” is due to be released on Friday, March 18. The song is described as a “raw mid-tempo R&B anthem” that is “Keri’s most honest song to date.” It’s produced by Mike WiLL-Made It and co-written by R. City.
The “Turnin Me On” singer has a catalog of songs that range from heartfelt, to sexy, and even empowering. “Again” will likely be a single where Hilson is reflecting on love.
“I said I’d never do it again, but I turned around and I did it again / I know I said that this was the end, but I turned around and I did it again,” she sings in the upcoming single.
The album may also include songs about her on-again, off-again relationship with 26-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder athlete, Serge Ibaka. The couple was rumored to have broken up last year because Hilson wanted to settle down and get married and Ibaka wasn’t ready, but those rumors were put to rest after the two were spotted at NBA player Russell Westbrook’s wedding. But now, Hilson is rumored to be single again.
L.I.A.R. will be released under Zone 4/Mosley Music Group and will feature Timbaland, Polow Da Don, Chris Brown and other talents.
