A disturbing tale of meth and child sexual assault is emerging in the city of Vernal, Utah. It was in that city that four men have been accused of gang-raping a 9-year-old girl while her mother smoked meth. The unidentified mother took the girl to the house of a friend she had met while in jail together. The two women went to the garage to smoke meth while the 9-year-old was asleep on the couch. When the women returned, the little girl was awake with her clothes in disarray, seemed upset and she told her mother she wanted to go home.
The next day the girl was still upset and told her mother that four men in the house had taken her into the bedroom where they took turns raping and sodomizing her. The mother then called police who responded to the home and the little girl was able to pick out one of the attackers in a photograph. Police soon arrested Larson James RonDeau, 36, who was in the home where the attack occurred. Rondeau stated he was at house during the attack, however he denied any involvement in the incident. He further stated that the other three men accused could have been involved or responsible for the assault.
The other three men accused of the rape were arrested March 31 and April 1. They are identified as 20-year-old Josiah RonDeau, 29-year-old Jerry Flatlip, and 26-year-old Randall Flatlip. All four men face felony charges for rape of a child and one count of sodomy of a child. The four accused are being held without bond at the Uintah County Jail.
When police searched the house, they recovered items that included bloodstained bedding, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The victim of the attack was removed from the custody of her mother and placed in state care.
