Janet Jackson has decided to delay her tour to start a family. Jackson posted a video of herself on Facebook and revealed that she would delay her tour for family reasons.
“My husband and I are planning our family,” Jackson said in the video clip. “I’m going to have to delay the tour. Please understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor orders. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
Jackson, 49, did not admit to being pregnant, but the need for rest could suggest that she is with child. If Jackson is indeed pregnant, she would join a list of celebrities who have given birth after 40.
Some of those celebs include Halle Berry who gave birth at 41 and 47; Mariah Carey who gave birth at 42; Salma Hayek who gave birth at 40; Gwen Stefani who gave birth at 44; and Rachel Zoe who gave birth at 42.
Although there are health risks associated with giving birth after the age of 40, more women are experiencing healthy pregnancies later in life. According to the CDC, over 100,000 women between the ages of 40-44 are giving birth each year. And over 8,000 women between the ages of 45-54 are giving birth.
A study done by Birbeck University in London revealed that women who have babies over the age of 40 have children that are less likely to be admitted to the hospital by the age of three. One of the other major benefits for having children after 40 is the high possibility of financial and emotional stability of the parents. This usually correlates to children who are more emotionally stable.
Jackson married Wissam Al Mana in 2012. Mana, 41, is the owner of Al Mana which is a $1.5 billion conglomerate located in Qatar that owns and operates 55 companies in eight countries.
