Ice Cube is the epitome of a doting dad. While making rounds this week for his upcoming film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, the big screen veteran took a brief moment to brag on his son, O’Shea Jackson Jr. “I’m so proud of him,” the actor told People of his son, who wasn’t in attendance at the premiere in Los Angeles on April 6.

“He’s out working. He’s trying to start submitting himself out in Hollywood,” he continued.

Of course, their strong relationship is based on a certain level of mutual respect and boundaries. When asked whether or not he’d permit Jackson, 25, to date a Kardashian, Cube replied, “Oh no, I didn’t say no Kardashians. It isn’t my choice. But I don’t think they can handle him.”

While the subject may seem a little left field. Earlier this year, Khloe Kardahian revealed that she would “bang” Jackson, during a Tinder-like game where she, sister Kylie Jenner, Aisha Tyler, and Kim Whitley decided whether to swipe left or right for some of Hollywood’s hottest hunks during the debut episode of her recently canceled “Kocktails With Khloe” talk show.

The 46-year-old went on to reveal that he and Jackson Jr. have bonded amid the recent conversations surrounding diversity in Hollywood and the fact that Cube’s film had such a grand premiere. “Putting time, effort, money into opening it up at the Chinese Theater, it gets no bigger than this and that’s what we want,” he said. “We just want to have the big stage like everybody else, that’s all.”

As for what the Friday franchise star loves the most about having grown-up kids, Cube took a practical approach. “You can send them to the store,” he joked.
