There’ve been rumors circulating for years that Janet Jackson has a secret child. Some say that the child was given to her older sister, Rebbie. It was all just speculation, until now.
As Jackson recently announced, she is having a baby with her husband, Wissam Al Mana. Many reports are stating that this will be the singer’s “first child,” which has made the secret child rumors resurface. Now, her ex-husband, James DeBarge, has revealed to Radar Online that a woman claiming to be the former couple’s child has contacted him.
Here are three things to know about Jackson and DeBarge’s alleged secret daughter.
She would have been conceived when Jackson was a teenager.
Jackson and DeBarge were married from Sept. 7, 1984, until Nov. 18, 1985. Jackson was in her late teens at the time. According to DeBarge’s mother, Etterlene DeBarge, Jackson had separated from her then-husband and went into hiding for several months. When Jackson resurfaced and asked to end the marriage, she was visibly pregnant, meaning the alleged conception had to have happened before her 20th birthday.
She allegedly contacted DeBarge two years ago.
DeBarge says that the mysterious woman called him two years ago and even called him “papa” as she explained to him that she was his daughter.
“She described as much as she could tell me because she was very fearful at the time,” the 80s singer said about his conversation with the woman. “She was very angry about people running with this story about this [other child] being my baby. She got very angry. She’s like, ‘Papa I want to help you out.’ She had so much of personality and she was so accurate with everything she was saying, it was only things that I and Janet know. No one else but God, me and Janet.”
She says that Jackson put her up for adoption.
DeBarge claims that he saw emails that proved Jackson put her baby girl up for adoption.
“One of her adoptive parents died,” he said. “Her adoptive mother and on her deathbed said she told her. She confirmed it on the deathbed.”
