Royce Da 5’9 brings back ‘real hip-hop’ at show in Atlanta

Hip-hop heads in Atlanta received a huge treat as Royce Da 5’9 performed his classic hits and songs from his latest album, Layers. The Detroit rapper represents the “real hip-hop” movement which takes immense pride in lyrical content. The concert took place at the Masquerade nightclub where Royce Da 5’9 performed before a capacity crowd. Here are the five best moments from the show.

Royce Da 5’9 
The Detroit rapper graced the stage around 10 p.m., singing songs from his latest album Layers. Royce Da 5’9 has worked with some of the best rappers making music today. The lyrical genus didn’t upset his fans by having good energy and performing good music. After the show, fans received shirts and a chance to get a picture with Royce.
Opening Acts 
The opening acts set the tone for the rest of the night. Both local artist from Atlanta and Detroit had a chance to showcase their talent, and expose their music to a different crowd. Among the many opening acts were rappers Grafh, Kid Vishis, Hydro, and SINO. All of these rappers had lyrical substance in their music whether it was about growing up or just representing the  city they’re from.
Fort Knox
A host extraordinaire, if you will, Fort Knox was the hype man for the evening. His job was simple; keep the crowd fired up after every opening act. He was very much effective at doing his job, by having a keen since of humor and high energy. After every act he would make sure the crowd show the performers love.
Intimate Crowd Scene
The show wasn’t in an arena or stadium, but that doesn’t mean the crowd’s activity was affected. Royce Da 5’9 attracts hip-hop fans that care about lyrical substance. It was a smaller venue, but the crowd matched Royce’s energy which in the end lead to a great live performance. Everyone in the crowd was a true fan of Royce Da 5’9.
Real Hip-Hop
For the hip-hop lovers who really care about the lyrics and the substance of a song, it all came together at the concert. Not everyone thinks hip-hop is dead; in fact, it is events like these that prove there are still rappers out there who can actually rap.
