Karrueche Tran is set to co-star in new dramedy “Claws” on the TNT network, alonside veteran actress Niecy Nash

Karrueche Tran may be “over” many things, but her acting career is just getting started, and from the looks of it, she’s definitely going to make her mark. Tran is set to co-star alongside Niecy Nash in the new scripted show “Claws,” a dramedy about five sundry and seemingly duplicitous women working at the “Nail Artisan of Manatee County” nail salon. Tran plays the role of Virginia, a bored and impatient manicurist with a major attitude problem. She helps to fill in at the salon from time to time, and doesn’t hide the fact that she’s unhappy with her “job.” Nash plays the salon’s owner, Desna Simms, who lives in a unkempt apartment with her mentally-ill twin brother. She often dreams of living the good life.

“Claws” promises to have more going on than just manicures, pedicures and silk wraps at the nail salon. The nail salon is actually is a front for a female organized crime ring. The show, written and co-executive produced by Eliot Laurence, is sure to bring the drama and some describe it as being wickedly funny.

This is not Tran‘s first time acting either. She also co-starred in and produced the digital series “The Bay,” which recently won an Emmy for best Digital Daytime Drama series. She also starred in the movie “A Weekend with the Family.”

Rashida Jones (daughter of the legendary Quincy Jones) and Will McCormack (both from Le Train Train productions) serve as “Claws” executive producers. The show was originally developed at HBO as a half hour comedy. However, the pilot was recently ordered by TNT Original Productions and made into an hour-long dramedy. It is also in association with Warner Horizon Television.
