A Texas cop is out of a job and escaping serious charges after a drunken rampage. Former Deputy William Cox of the Somervell County Sheriff’s Department was caught on his police body-cam in July engaging in deadly and outrageous behavior. Cox stripped down to his underwear while drunk and fired multiple gunshots at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Police arrived at the church after receiving a call and saw Cox yelling in a drunken tirade. Officers were able to calm Cox down. He  stated that he shot up the church “cause my boys are getting killed in Dallas.” But Cox also exposed that he is a racist and in his drunken stupor allegedly said, “The Black coon start killing my boys.”

Investigators at the scene recovered his .38-caliber revolver service gun and 28 bullet casings in his car. Cox was arrested and initially charged with deadly conduct for his actions. He stated to investigators that he was under a lot of stress and decided to get drunk in the parking lot of the church. The next day, the pastor at the church declined to press charges and Cox was released from the Ellis County Jail. He was later terminated from his position as a deputy and currently faces no charges. However, Ellis County District Attorney Patrick Wilson is angered over the entire situation. He recently stated, “I cannot understand how these facts escape the narrative of favoritism. How can I dispel that narrative when these facts completely support that?” Wilson has stated that his office is now investigating the situation.

When the Dallas TV station filed an open records request for Cox’s mugshot, all they got back was a picture of a blank wall. Ellis County Sheriff Johnny Brown stated to media, “The complainant dropped the charges. I have nothing to say about it.” Open records requests by media for a mugshot of Cox were met with a picture of a blank wall by the sheriff’s office.
