Jhené Aiko gave fans a major shock last week when news reports revealed that the R&B singer was divorcing her husband, Dot Da Genius, after only 11 months of marriage. At the time of the announcement, Aiko was pretty mum about her major split. But now she’s let the flood gates open and spilled some major dirt on exactly why she’s leaving her husband.
As previously reported, Aiko and Dot had been dating for years before Dot revealed in March of this year that he and Aiko had gotten married. Things seemed fine for the couple for a while, but months ago rumors began spreading that there was trouble in paradise as Aiko began working closely with rapper Big Sean on their collaborative album Twenty88. The internet quickly began buzzing that Aiko was cheating on Dot with Sean.
Well, it looks like the rumors were at least true about their marriage falling apart because Aiko filed for divorce last week and claimed in her divorce documents that she and Dot are splitting due to “irreconcilable differences.” She also asked the judge to deny Dot spousal support.
Naturally, fans began to formulate opinions on why Aiko and Dot were splitting and many assumed that Aiko’s alleged affair with Sean was to blame. And yesterday one Twitter user decided to boldly accuse Aiko of cheating on Dot publicly.
“Once again, with the internet as ur source… ur point is invalid and inaccurate and ur ignorance grows stronger,” Aiko replied to the user.
Another user asked Aiko, “Why you do Dot like that???” and Aiko responded with, “Never let a man disrespect u in any way. major key.”
Other users claimed that Aiko was wrong for disrespecting her relationship with Dot and then divorcing him, but Aiko gave an unfiltered response in which she claimed Dot was the first one to really walk away from their marriage.
“He jumped the ship a long time ago. he wants to be the victim and I’ll let his b—- a– assume the role,” Aiko wrote in one post and in another she wrote, “i only cheated myself. so glad to be free from all the drugs, depression and confrontation.”
Well, those are some pretty harsh accusations. What do you readers think? Let us know in the comments.
