“SNL” fans can rejoice. The Emmy Award-winning late-night comedy showcase has confirmed its major players for season 42, and although six-year vets Taran Killam, and Jay Pharaoh, as well as newcomer Jon Rudnitsky won’t return to Studio 8H this fall, the show’s remaining cast is still pretty epic.
It’s been a smash summer for many on team “Saturday Night Live.” Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones appeared in Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters, based on the ’80s blockbuster. Not to mention, Jones transformed her at-home Olympics viewing into an official invite to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Meanwhile, Colin Jost and Michael Che served as special “Today” show correspondents, while hosting “Weekend Update” segments during the Republican and Democratic National conventions held in July.
Of course, a cast shakeup isn’t the only change going down over at NBC. Writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider have been promoted to co-head writers for the upcoming season, reports Splitsider. The duo have written sketches such as “The Beygency,” “(Do It On My) Twin Bed,” and “Bar Talk.” Kelly has also written episodes of “Broad City” and the Sundance film Other People, while Schneider is known for her writing-acting work at CollegeHumor. However, there’s been no official word on how the change will effect last year’s co-head writers, Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker.
Despite all the major changes, “SNL” appears to have their areas covered with just over a dozen solid comedians on board. Hit the flip to see just who made the cut.
