Ira Madison III is a senior writer for MTV News. He has quickly garnered a reputation for his humor-infused critiques of pop culture, but he can also tackle series topics. The writer shows his range by dressing up as a Black Power Ranger to report from Comic-Con then later discussing how people are exposing violence using their cell phones.
Madison writes the weekly column, “Delete Your Account,” which is billed as taking “the hot air out of celebrities and their social media shenanigans…[deciding] whether or not each perpetrator should delete their accounts and never grace the internet again.” Recently, he suggested “Brandy needs to focus on the next ‘Afrodisiac’ instead of getting messy on social media.” The column opened with biting wit:
“Who knew Brandy was outchere running through her Instagram comments like she’s speeding on the 405 freeway? I mean, we already knew that Brandy knucked when she got buck, but this feud with Monica is still happening in the Year of Our Lord 2016?”
Madison is also the host of “Speed Dial with Ira and Doreen,” along with another MTV News writer Doreen St. Félix. The podcast is presented as a phone conversation between friends talking about how race intersects with music, pop culture, politics, sex and any and everything else.
