‘Tis the season to give back’ Residents of Metro-Detroit were thankful when president and CEO of the All-Star Giveback, LLC., Tarence Wheeler and several All-Stars partnered with the River Rouge school system to give away over 2K turkeys to local residents. It was a great effort that put smiles on the faces of many families in need. The #AllStarGiveBack took place on Nov. 22 at River Rouge High School and the turnout was unbelievable.

There were appearances by native Detroiters and major recording artists Big Sean and Dej Loaf, Hall of Fame boxer Tommy Hearns, former NBA player Derrick Coleman and a host of impactful leaders in Detroit such as WXYZ Channel 7 news anchor Glenda Lewis along with her mother Diana Lewis. The entire Hot 107.5 Detroit morning team was also on hand. Many of the volunteers were citizens who just wanted to support the cause, along with River Rouge students and their Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC).

The gymnasium was filled with love, positive energy and the holiday spirit as the River Rouge band and majorette team set the tone, opening the event with a great performance. The line was wrapped around the building hours before the event even started, as the All-Star team worked hard at getting families out of the cold.

Rolling out was able to catch up with Wheeler who shared, “My community isn’t looking for a savior; we need more servants.” There were plenty of servants in the building that made sure every family in there left with a blessing, which is an awesome kick off to this holiday season.
