Floyd Mayweather slapped with yet another hefty lawsuit

Floyd “Money” Mayweather is in hot water after stiffing a Las Vegas hot spot.

According to the SLS Hotel in Sin City, the 39-year-old boxing champion signed on the dotted line to host his 39th birthday bash at their swanky Foxtail Nightclub on February 20. Only, he was a no-show, TMZ reports.

The deal was easy breezy — make $35K for 90 minutes — sashay down the red carpet, say a few words on the mic and boom, thirty stacks richer. Unfortunately for the SLS Hotel, the booty wasn’t enticing enough as they claim Mayweather bailed at the last minute, so he could “stay in Europe for his birthday.”

To make matters worse, Mayweather was allegedly cut a check for half the prize in advance and is refusing to pay it back. Oddly enough, it’s not like the Grand Rapids native is hurting for money and unable to repay the debt. In 2015, he was listed by Forbes as the world’s highest-paid athlete, earning nearly $300M. He also topped Forbes’ list in 2012 at $85M and 2014 at $105M.

Now, the SLS Hotel is suing for that advance and some.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Mayweather’s been put on blast for neglecting his financial duties. In October, he was accused of stiffing a Las Vegas jewelry company, The Jewelers Inc., for $1.4M of the cost of a diamond-encrusted necklace consisting of 72 round-cut diamonds, which he purchased in Sept. 2015, the Associated Press reported at the time.

According to the civil lawsuit filed on September 23 in a Clark County District Court in Las Vegas, the jewelers claim Mayweather paid only $1.6M towards the piece priced at $3M.

In 2005, records also show a civil action was filed by another jeweler alleging that he failed to pay $124K for more than 20 pieces of jewelry. Though the case was settled in 2006, terms were not disclosed.
