Another gross incident of police brutality against Black citizens has occurred in America. The incident began after an older White man choked a 7-year-old Black boy in Fort Worth, Texas. The mother of the boy called the police and her daughter began recording cell phone video once the cop arrived on the scene.
The White police officer had a quiet conversation with the White man who choked the boy. The officer then asked the mother of the child what was wrong with her. The woman told the police officer that the White man grabbed and choked her son because the boy threw a piece of paper and would not pick it up. While the Black woman was explaining herself to the officer, the White man responded by saying, “Why don’t you teach your son not to litter?”
The mother responded by telling the officer that the White man did not have the right to assault her son. the officer responded by saying, “Why not.”
The woman soon began to tell the White man that he doesn’t know how she raises her kids. The cop told the Black woman to stop yelling or he would take her to jail. The woman’s daughter attempted to come between her mother and the officer to calm the situation. But the officer pushed the young girl out of the way, grabbed the mother and wrestled her to the ground without reason. The officer then pressed a taser to the woman’s back and aimed the taser at her family.
At the same time, the White man who choked the young boy was not arrested and watched without repercussion.
It’s another incident that proves how race plays a major role in law enforcement. When White racists are allowed to hold a badge and a gun, they are given a license to assault and kill Blacks. The White officer believed that it was okay for a White man to choke and assault and a young Black boy for allegedly throwing a piece of paper. Instead of arresting the White man, the officer used his authority to harass, assault and humiliate a Black family who were victims of a crime.
The video has since went viral. After pressure from thousands who were enraged by the video, the Fort Worth Police Department issued a statement. “We are aware of the video that is circulating on social media. Internal Affairs is currently conducting an internal investigation.”
