Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill’s breakup last year definitely carried weight with fans but with the way the exes moved on with their lives, it seemed, at times, like it didn’t carry much weight with them. However, in a new interview, Meek opened up about the split and explained that he felt like he took a major loss losing Minaj.
As fans remember, Minaj announced her split from Meek back in January, saying that “Yes, I am single. Focusing on my work and looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon. Have a blessed New Year.”
Since then, neither Meek nor Minaj have elaborated on why they split and life for both of them seemed to move on pretty easily. However, Meek recently spoke about the split in an interview with Philadelphia radio station Power 99 and he revealed that, like anyone else would, he felt like he lost something special when his relationship with Minaj ended.
‘It was a win. I got Nicki when I was … like I came up. I always wanted Nicki my whole life. I use to talk … remember I had the rap about it? I bagged that. So that was a win, of course,” he admitted
Meek continued, “Of course breaking up with anyone you love is a loss. Period. Game time. Want me to make up a lie or something? It’s so easy to tell the truth now.”
Well, considering that Meek and Minaj were together for more than a year, we never doubted that their breakup took a toll on both of them. Minaj has yet to comments on Meek’s remarks about their split but considering how Minaj went on a liking spree earlier this month about posts from fans that were shading Meek, we imagine that it wasn’t just remorse that she felt about the breakup.
