Last night, the Black Women in Film Network held its annual holiday party at Atlanta’s latest hot spot, Revel Lounge. Guest to the tune of 400 people showed up even in the rain to celebrate a year of growth and success and to meet the party’s host; veteran actress Vanessa Bell Calloway, who plays the lead character Lady Ella on Bounce TV’s original series “Saints & Sinners.” Calloway spoke a few words of wisdom with the audience, ending with the mantra “Stay ready, so you can be ready!”
Chef Mark Brown and Kate Atwood prepared some quite tasty appetizers for the event. Female DJ Bombshell Boogie held it down on the turntables keeping the energy hyped in the room and the Red Carpet Express had a fun prop-filled photo booth. Guests brought toys to donate to Gwen Boyd-Moss’ foundation’s My Special Friendz Toy Drive (for autism).
There were so many local celebrity guests, which included “Saints & Sinners” actress Jasmine Burke; LeLee Lyons from SWV; stylist Gocha Hawkins; 11Alive reporter Francesca Amiker; The Super Lawyer, Reginald Green; indie singer-songwriter Vijeta; Keenya Hill (“America’s Next Top Model” cycle four); model/TV personality Sincerely Ward; “Sister Circle Live” co-host Kiana Dancie; realtor Genise Shelton; actor Dennis L.A. White; acting coach Jonna Johnson; My Special Friendz founder Gwen Boyd Moss; TV personality LaKenya Morris; wardrobe stylist Ryan Christopher; event designer Jamahl King; BWFN board members Larry Cooper, Tomika DePriest, Natana Denzmore, Mercedez Springer; and BWFN members Denise Armstrong, Naylon Mitchell, Judi Rodgers, Gwen Goodman, D.
