Live from the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the nominees for the the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on NBC’s “Today” show. These nominations are significant as we critique the snubs, surprises and stars in Hollywood.

There are smiles on the faces for quite a few Black actors who received a nod for their roles in film and TV. The now-Golden Globe nominated actress Issa Rae is taking center stage. Her show, “Insecure,” which she stars and produces, has garnered her recognition. One of this writer’s favorite sitcom, “Black-sh,” and Anthony Anderson are acknowledged, as well at Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer to the film The Shape of Water, where she plays an outspoken charwoman Zelda Fuller.

Tune in on January 7, 2018 for the live show at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC hosted by Seth Meyers.
