One of the best events for fathers in the Twin Cities is the Positive Image Father Daughter Dance.

The  Father Daughter Dance focuses on the importance of fathers and their daughters having strong, healthy relationships. Positive Image Executive Director Terry Austin said, “Father Daughter Dance is a community-sponsored, formal, elegant and fun-filled evening for girls ages 5 years and over, and the special men in their lives.” During this year’s 6th annual event, over 700 men and their dates attended fabulous dance.

The purpose and mission of the dance is to foster lasting relationships and create a tradition of positive fathers and parenting among men in our community.

Austin concluded by stating how important it is for fathers to be in their daughter’s life. “Fathers are daughter’s first love, and the relationships daughters have with their fathers will affect their relationships with men and relationships in the future. A dad’s involvement in his daughter’s life is a crucial element in the development of a young woman’s self-esteem. The direct involvement and encouragement by fathers will help diminish a girl’s insecurity and increase her confidence in her own abilities.
