People believe that Kanye West has completely lost it now that he actually wants to use the image of the man responsible for his mother’s death as his album cover. He has already incurred the venomous wrath of former fans and critics for unilaterally throwing his support behind Donald Trump and others of his ilk.
West claims that putting the face of plastic surgeon Jan Adams on the cover is an act of forgiveness and will signal the commencement of world peace.
Really?
The doctor, as you might imagine, wants no part of it.
West shared a text between him and someone named Wes, and included a photo of plastic surgeon Jan Adams. West says the pic will be his cover art and the album will be called Love Everyone.
Adams, as most know by now, performed breast reduction surgery along with liposuction and other risky procedures on West’s mother, Donda West, 11 years ago. She had complications from the procedure and reportedly died the next day at home.
According to media reports, the coroner listed the death as emanating from coronary issues triggered by the surgeries.
The surgeon wrote an open letter to West, according to The Blast, clearly stating he does not want to be featured on West’s upcoming record under any circumstances, and that West must “cease and desist using my photo or any image of me to promote your album or any of your work.”
West justified this bizarre move to TMZ, saying, “It’s essential that people start removing the hate from their heart.” Trying to show that he’s metaphorically putting his money where his mouth is, he tells the entertainment blog that the point of the album cover is to “forgive and stop hating.”
West insinuated that the use of the surgeon’s face on the cover is tantamount to an olive branch to Adams, TMZ reports. West also said he is open to sitting down with the doctor for the first time for a discussion so both men can finally heal from the long-ago tragedy.
Adams said he does not want to come off as “ungrateful,” but relayed that if West is keeping it real, then using the surgeon’s image would be very “inappropriate to drag the negativity of the past with it.”
Adams said he is, however, open to a private, extended conversation with the rapper at a later date.
West seemed delighted that the doctor even responded to him at all. The rapper said he “can’t wait to sit and start healing,” TMZ reports.
