It seems that in the age of the Trump presidency, public displays of racial hatred are at an all-time high. A fact confirmed by a recent FBI report on hate crimes that have occurred in 2018. These incidents have occurred as people are going about their everyday lives, including riding a subway to work. The latest incident occurred on an NYC subway train when a White woman, now identified as Anna Lushchinskaya, 40, decided to go on a racist tirade and assault an Asian woman.
It happened on the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, on the D Train and other passengers were horrified and came to the victim’s defense. After the tense and violent incident, Lushchinskaya was later arrested at another stop when one of the passengers initiated a citizen’s arrest and detained Lushchinskaya until transit police arrived and arrested her. She has now been charged with felony assault.
