A trip to McDonald’s for a group of Black teens almost resulted in a shooting by a White man spewing racist insults. It all happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota, when the group of teens were trying to pay for their food using the phone app Applepay. An unidentified White male became frustrated by the group for taking too long at the register and started insulting them claiming they were probably trying to use their EBT card. One of the teens turned to him and stated, “Just because I’m Black does not mean I use EBT.”

Infuriated by the teen standing up to his racist behavior, the man continued to become aggressive. One of the young women in the group called out to a male friend for help because she was scared. When the white man was confronted by another Black teen who would not back down, he pulled a gun on the group and then went outside by the door. An unidentified female manager then ordered the teens to leave her store as the teens shouted that the man pulled a gun on them. The manager said, “I don’t care. Get the f— out of my store.”

Another customer who saw the encounter go down came to the defense of the kids and said, “They’re gonna get shot by this racist.” And told the manager she should call the cops. Sadly, another McDonald’s employee told the teens, “Well, he pulled a gun for a reason. I don’t know what it was but he had a reason.”

Police eventually arrived but the racist gun-toting customer was long gone. The video of the encounter was posted to social media by Muslim Girl, a website by and for young Muslim women.

Paul Ostergaard, owner of the franchise told Muslim Girl, “Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and employees. We take this matter seriously and are working with local law enforcement while we investigate the situation.”
